The work of these trains is to connect suburban areas and cities. These trains run on electricity and they have a kind of pantograph, which transmits electricity to the engine of the train. These trains run at a speed of 60 to 100 kilometers per hour.

Demu (DEMU) means Diesel Multiple Unit. Diesel is used to run such trains. These trains are of three types, first diesel mechanical demu, second diesel hydraulic demu and third diesel electric demu.
